Being Petite doesn’t mean that we are all alike. Quite the contrary! There are as many different personalities as there are Petite women.
That’s why I love to share with you the story of inspiring Petite women so you can see that you can do anything as long as you want it.
This week, I interviewed Sylvie. She is 5’3 tall, full of creativity, and the founder of Ysie, a French jewelry brand. As a Petite ambitious, she did not hesitate to carry out a reconversion to fulfill her dreams.
Listen to her story.
IT SEEMS TO YOU ARE ALSO PART OF THE PETITE COMMUNITY. HOW TALL ARE YOU AND DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN ANECDOTES ABOUT YOUR SIZE?
You are right, I am 5’3 tall and thus, part of the petite world.
My husband is not very tall either. So, his mom used to say that a lot: “If your feet touch the ground, it means you are the right size.” It’s a mantra that I completely embrace now!
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF BEAUTY?
For me, a beautiful woman is very natural. I personally don’t use a lot of make up. I prefer to limit myself to the minimum and I like my natural face.
However, I do think it’s essential to take good care of your hair and complexion.
If I have to define beauty, I would say that beauty is more about the behavior and posture of a woman. Attitude and self-confidence are the best cosmetics.
HOW WOULD YOU CHARACTERIZE YOUR LOOK?
I enjoy wearing comfortable clothes. So, I’d say I have quite a casual look. On top of that, I am also a mom. As a mother, I run around everywhere everyday.
Besides, being a jewelry designer, I am often on the move and armed with big jewelry cases. So, this look is more suited to my everyday life.
Of course, I sometimes want to be more feminine when I have a romantic outing or networking activities. Whatever the event, I like well-cut clothes, those that are simple but always with a little je-ne-sais-quoi.
I find that a pattern or a small original detail can turn your whole outfit into something new.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY TODAY?
I am a slow fashion advocate. As a consumer, I am sensitive to this new era of consumption.
If I can, I try to opt for ethical brands. I know my clothes and accessories will last longer.
I think it is better to buy quality and timeless pieces, which will not go out of fashion. A good shirt or a black dress will always make a good investment.
As a designer, it also encourages me to ask myself the right questions at every stage of the project, be it for the raw material or the communication.
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF AS AN AMBITIOUS PERSON?
I think you have to have ambition in life to realize your dreams.
In my opinion, success is when the goal is reached or exceeded.
I am indeed an ambitious person. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have started my own brand. However, I think I am ambitious in a moderate way. I tend to underestimate some things.
However, I got more confidence since I launched my brand because I realized that I can do many things that I would never have tried before.
CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT YSIE, THE JEWELRY BRAND YOU CREATED?
I was a key account in the multimedia sector for about a decade. It was during a conversation with a friend two years ago that I had a revelation. My friend told me that I had to find time for manual activities to relax.
So I started making jewelry, and I liked that. I also wanted to find time for myself, my family and be my own boss.
I created Ysie at the beginning of 2019.
Ysie offers handmade jewelries made in precious and non-allergenic metals. Having sensitive skin myself, I wanted to create accessories that can truly be worn by all women.
But, this is only a first step. In the long run, I would like to open my own jewelry boutique with a selection of fashion accessories and bring together everything I love in a beautiful and pleasant place.
GREAT! DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR PETITE WOMEN WHO WILL READ THIS ARTICLE?
